October 19, 2021- Avery’s 13th Birthday

Avery,

Today, you would have been a teenager.

A day you would have looked forward to for years, to be a “teen”.

We’d like to think you would have still wanted to have a big party, with all your friends and with all your family, still being a little girl, but you would have been becoming a young lady, so maybe you wouldn’t have wanted a party, maybe just to “hang out.”

But at the end of the day, we know you would have wanted that time with mom and dad, Alex, Cade and Addison, being the focus of all of our attention.

There would be pizza and cupcakes and a movie and fun, which you still would have planned out well in advance.

Because you still loved to celebrate.

Celebrate us, celebrate your friends, your family, yourself. You loved to smile and be happy.

And be together.

That would have never changed. Even well in to a pandemic and a quarantine and whatever it is that was happening, you could never get enough time with your family.

And we never, ever, got nearly enough time with you.

Avery, you are so dearly missed. It has been almost six years since you were last here with us. The last birthday we celebrated with you here on earth, you turned seven. We’ve missed your 8th, your 9th, your 10th, your 11th, your 12th and now your 13th birthday, because cancer robbed you of ever celebrating another birthday after it took you from us.

And yet, as each year goes by, we’re reminded even more than the year before, how incredible, how amazing, how loved you were.

We continue to make waves, in your name, and to honor you.

Each one of us fights in honor of you, daily. Your family, your friends, people who never even met you.

Because you have given us a purpose, a cause and a fight to fight. All because of how you lived, how you loved and how you fought.

We will never, ever, stop fighting for you.

Happy birthday in heaven, our sweet little girl.

We love you and miss you so, so much.

Mommy, Daddy, Alexandra, Cade & Addison
