October 19, 2022- Avery’s 14th Birthday

Avery,

Today, you would have been 14 years old.

The pictures above, one taken 10 years ago, when you celebrated your 4th birthday.

The other today, we were celebrate you, at your final resting place, a much different place then we ever anticipated celebrating your 14th birthday.

But sadly, this is now the seventh birthday of yours we’ve had to “celebrate” there, instead of your birthday here, you, with us.

You celebrated seven on earth. You now celebrate your seventh in heaven.

But this isn’t the “Seventh Heaven” we anticipated.

The thought never crossed our mind when you turned four, that a decade later, you would be gone, your birthday celebrations would be us visiting the cemetery where you were laid to rest.

There is pizza and there are cupcakes and there are talks, lots of them, about you, on October 19th, every year.

But you can’t be here with us on earth to celebrate them.

So we celebrate you.

Because you still loved to celebrate.

Celebrate us, celebrate your friends, your family, yourself. You loved to smile and be happy.

And be together.

Avery, we miss you more and more each and every day.

It has been nearly seven years since you were last here with us. This week, it marked 80 months since you took your last breath- six years, eight months to be exact.

Cancer robbed you of ever celebrating another birthday after it took you from us.

But we won’t ever stop celebrating you or saying your name.

We continue to fight in honor of you, daily.

Your fight gave us a purpose, a cause and a fight to fight.

So we will never, ever, stop fighting for you.

Happy birthday in heaven, our sweet little girl.

We love you and miss you so, so much.

Mommy, Daddy, Alexandra, Cade & Addison
