The Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation Turns Seven, Raises over $1 Million

For 7.5 months, Avery Huffman fought and battled against DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a terminal brain cancer that hits just 300 kids a year around the world.

She fought and she fought and she fought, but DIPG remained undefeated, taking Avery from us on February 16, 2016 at the age of 7.

For the last seven years, we have fought back.

This May marks the 7-year anniversary of the Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation.

Initially established in May 2016, the Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation was established to honor the legacy, courage and fight of Avery while joining the battle against this monster to ultimately end DIPG.

Every cent raised has gone towards the fight against DIPG and the Foundation seeks to make a difference and end DIPG both by raising awareness of DIPG and by providing funding for research into effective treatments for DIPG.

During Avery’s battle, the phrase and hashtag #AveryStrong was prominent, with thousands of people around the world coming along side of the Huffman family and Avery specifically in her fight.

The number 7 was Avery’s favorite number.  Her older brother, Cade, wears the No. 7 on his football and baseball jerseys while jersey’s with the No. 7 hang prominently around the house.

So as we celebrate the seven year anniversary of the Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation, we are also thrilled to make this announcement.

Since our inception in 2016, the Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation has now officially raised over $1 million dollars.

Thanks to a large donation in April of 2023, that generous gift tipped the foundation to over $1 million dollars in donations in the seven years we’ve been fighting for a cure for DIPG.

And all of those funds have gone to fund various research projects both domestically and globally and are a part of major progress In the fight against DIPG.

Later this month, we will be announcing two new funding projects that, thanks to the generosity, love and support of the foundation supporters, we’ll be funding exclusively under the Avery Huffman DIPG Foundation.

We continue to invite people to come along side us as we fight for a cure, which was our vow to Avery and our mission after she left us.
