Announcing The Establishment of the Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation
For 7.5 months, Avery Huffman fought and battled against DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a terminal brain cancer that hits just 300 kids a year around the world.
She fought and she fought and she fought, but DIPG remained undefeated, taking Avery from us on February 16, 2016 at the age of 7.
Now we fight back.
Today, we are excited to announce the establishment of the Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation, to honor the legacy, courage and fight of Avery while joining the battle against this monster to ultimately Defeat DIPG.
Under the umbrella of the Michael Mosier Defeat DIPG Foundation based in Maryland and partnering with the Connor Man Defeat DIPG Foundation based in Texas, the Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation will be the West Coast chapter of the Defeat DIPG Foundation and is committed to finding a cure for DIPG.
Every cent raised will go towards the fight against DIPG and the Foundation seeks to make a difference and Defeat DIPG both by raising awareness of DIPG and by providing funding for research into effective treatments for DIPG.
During Avery’s battle, the phrase and hashtag #AveryStrong was prominent, with thousands of people around the world coming along side of the Huffman family and Avery specifically in her fight.
We’re rallying the troops again, to invite people to come along side us as we fight for a cure, which was our vow to Avery and our mission after she left us.
With new medical technology and increased access to tumor tissue, there is finally hope that we can Defeat DIPG. Medical researchers are learning more than ever before about these tumors, with promising new developments that could pave the way for new, effective treatments, and ultimately a cure. We must broaden the coalition of supporters to battle against DIPG — a cruel disease that steals hundreds of young lives every single year.

Our first campaign will let you “Gear Up” to be ready for the fight, a Booster t-shirt campaign to kickstart awareness for the foundation while giving you a conversation starter when you’re out wearing the gear and raising awareness.
